Welcome to another session of Treasure Search! As we continue our series, Winning Ways 2023, let’s delve into part two, focusing on essential attitudes and principles that empower us to live victoriously. Our reference text is Romans 12:6–12, offering timeless wisdom on how to lead a life that pleases God and blesses others.
In part one, we emphasized four principles for victorious living:
- Dedicate your life as a living sacrifice to God.
- Transform your thinking to discern God’s will.
- Do away with pride and embrace humility.
- Learn to work harmoniously with others.
Today, we’ll build on these by exploring four more principles to help you navigate the new year successfully.
1. Serve Humanity with Your Gifts
Romans 12:6–8 reminds us that God has endowed each of us with unique gifts, not for personal gain, but to serve others and glorify Him. Whether your gift is prophecy, teaching, administration, or encouragement, use it diligently and with humility.
Serving sincerely means:
- Simplicity: Approach service without selfish motives.
- Love: Let love drive your actions, ensuring your service edifies others.
- Excellence: Do your best in every task, no matter how small.
Your talents were given by God to make a difference in the world. Use them wisely to point others to Him.
2. Operate in Love
Romans 12:9–10 urges us to let our love be genuine, free from pretense. True love is patient, kind, and selfless. It seeks the good of others and does not harbor envy or selfish ambition.
This year, prioritize love by:
- Caring deeply: Look out for the needs of others.
- Avoiding grudges: Let go of past offenses and embrace forgiveness.
- Celebrating others: Rejoice in the successes of those around you.
Love transforms relationships, communities, and lives. Let it be the foundation of all your actions.
3. Be Diligent
Romans 12:11 calls us to be fervent in spirit and not slothful in business. Diligence involves persistent, careful, and energetic effort. It is a mark of excellence and an acknowledgment of the dignity of labor.
As you work towards your goals, remember:
- Effort matters: Put in the time and energy required for success.
- Trust God: While you give your best, rely on God to bless your efforts.
- Avoid complacency: Keep striving for excellence in every task.
Diligence positions you for leadership and prepares you for greater responsibilities.
4. Persevere Through Challenges
Romans 12:12 encourages us to rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and remain steadfast in prayer. Life’s challenges are inevitable, but perseverance ensures you emerge stronger.
To persevere:
- Embrace hardships: See difficulties as opportunities to grow.
- Stay anchored: Trust in God’s promises and timing.
- Keep praying: Maintain a consistent prayer life, even when answers seem delayed.
Remember, storms are temporary, but the rewards of endurance are eternal.
Conclusion
Victory in the new year requires intentionality in applying these principles. Serve with your gifts, let love guide your interactions, work diligently, and persevere through challenges. As you do, God will lead you to triumph in every area of your life.
Stay blessed and keep winning in Jesus’ name!
